Nicole Lenzi's work could exist anywhere, and could go as far as to dissect a vacuum. The fact that the geometrical constructions exist on the floor one would think is secondary - but actually, the bottom is falling out beneath us. The artist crystallizes environments, breaking apart the space itself in order to reconstruct and understand it. The floor becomes a continuance of the space "above" it; where is the beginning and where is the end? Where does the horizon line exist? In actuality, does it even exist on a cellular level? Or are the components of what we see interspersed, porous in reality? These are questions that come to mind while viewing these sculptural compositions. It would be interesting to see it spread throughout an entire room. -
